Hi John

If I recall correctly you had configured the SQL backup based on your vendors recommendations. Our recommendation would be to use the SQL aware policy but I believe the CNG documentation had slightly different guidelines.

I am reviewing the Exchange Server now as I see the original policy listed and I want to confirm if that is needed now that the other policy exists.

Sarah,
I've just spoken with support and the Exchange Aware Policy is created. Is there anything else that I need to do before we start looking at sending this TRA back? Please let me know. I did notice that our LANDERS CNG server does not have a SQL Server Policy. Does this need to be done or is the policy I have correct?

Hi John

The best thing to do would be to call support when you have a few minutes to talk with them to review, they should be able to review to understand why the Exchange aware policy was not created.

Their number is 800-888-2774, Option 5 and then Option 1. I would just feel more comfortable knowing your policies are created as they should be prior to having the TRA returned to us for seeding.

Sarah,
I guess I need to open a ticket with support, but not sure what to do. I am at our Landers Ford store today where the TRA is and can work on it. Any chance you or someone can give me a call?

Thanks,
John Rose

Hi John

That is great to hear. I see that a backup did complete overnight to the appliance, however the 15 minute snapshots have not been running since the first backup completed. The backup report indicates that the backup was unable to kick off due to snapshot problems.

Also, did you create an Exchange Aware policy when the backup was created? The webui still shows the option to create one which is why I inquired.

Due to the errors I think it will be necessary to open a case with Support to understand what is happening. It may be faster for you to call in rather than waiting for a case to be created, however I am happy to send a request to have a case open if that works better for you. Let me know either way.

OK Sarah! Here is the update you have been waiting to hear. My consultant and I have managed to get our exchange server upgraded to Service Pack 3. This means the the live vault service should now work on the exchnage server. I have gone ahead and enabled my backup policy for this server and I have also scheduled the newest Agent updates for installation this morning. Hopefully you and I can now come back together on this and finish up and schedule when you want me to send bact the TRA. If you can, let's try to get together on Wednesday, the 13th.

Thanks!!!

Hi Sarah,
He has been swamped with other calls, but he finally got to look at it last night. I think he is installing the SP3 that we need to run the Live Update Software. I should know more tomorrow morning.

Thanks,
John

Hi John

I hope you are well. Where you able to connect with the person that helps to manage your Exchange system? I see that the policy is still disabled so I wanted to get an update on next steps.

If you could let me know it would be appreciated.

Sarah,
The guy I use for my Exchange stuff is on vacation until Monday. I have seeded the other servers and I think they are probably ready to go. Do you have time to look at it with me tomorrow? I will be at that location in the morning from 8-11:30 Central time.

Hi John

How are you?

I wanted to circle back with you where we have not connected for a while and I didn't see any further updates on the seeding. Could you let me know if you have had a chance to complete the configurations?

Thanks in advance.

Just finished the CNg server this afternoon so it is a go. I need to finish the exchange server. I was going to follow up with someone else at iron mountain to ask them about backing up system state. I did make progress on getting that server updated. I would say in one week TRA should be seeded.

Thanks,
John Rose

Hi John

I wanted to follow up on our last conversation. When we spoke on the 8th you stated that you would be working with your CNG rep to determine if you had the proper information included in your backup and that you would determine how you wanted to proceed with Exchange until you were able to address the system issue with Microsoft and then initiate the backups for both when ready. I see that the CNG backup has since started and that Exchange is still disabled.

Do you have any thoughts on how you want to proceed? I would like to determine the timeline for completing the seeding if possible.

If you could let me know when you have a moment it would be appreciated.

Hi Sarah,
I am at our Landers Ford store this morning and I would like to try this again. I would like to focus on our domain controller (Landers-dc) and our CNG server (Landers-CNG) so that they can at least be seeding. I am going to have to find a different solution for our Exchange server, as the version we have is preventing us from upgrading to Service Pack 3 right now. I am working on getting that rectified. Do you have a few minutes to give me a call and we can go through this fairly quickly I believe. I just want to get something going ASAP.

Thank you,
John Rose

Good morning John

I hope this email finds you well.

I wanted to touch base with you to determine how the troubleshooting for your Exchange server is progressing. Based on the last update I had from Dan in Support it appears you were directed to Microsoft for further assistance.

If you could let me know when you have a few minutes it would be appreciated.
